Dr Michael Harwood

BVSc CertAVP MRCVS

Michael grew up in Newmarket the centre of the UK racing industry. He conducted his veterinary training at Liverpool University Veterinary School and was always focussed on becoming an equine practitioner. He completed an equine externship in his final year, followed by starting his career in an equine internship and then a period in mixed practice.

Michael had his first taste of Australia in 2005 spending a number of years in equine hospitals in the Hawkebury, Sunshine Coast and Hunter Valley. Michael returned to the UK to work in performance horse practice in the Southern Counties for three years before returning to Australia in 2011 and moving to Perth. He started Oldbury Equine Clinic at the beginning of 2014 wanting to provide a comprehensive equine veterinary service, which offered the options of full work ups both at the clinic and the client’s own facilities.

When not working Michael can be found spending time with his family, windsurfing one of the many WA wave breaks, assisting with Windsurfing Western Australia where he is vice president or occasionally participating in local polo chukkas.

Dr Simone Deetman

BSc BVMS(Hons)

Simone completed her Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery at Murdoch University in 2006 and straight away relocated to Busselton to begin her veterinary career. Although she thoroughly enjoyed living and working in the beautiful South West, after several years, she moved back to Perth to combine veterinary work with her passion of horses and entered into sole equine practice. Simone uniquely enjoys all aspects of equine veterinary medicine and general practice.

Over the last 10 years Simone has been lucky enough to intermittently take time away from work to raise a family – life has never been busier than with 3 young kids! Simone’s interests outside of work all revolve around her love of being outdoors. From camping to hiking and bike riding, she loves spending time with her family and seeing all the great places WA has to offer.
